‘Rhapsody’ Takes the Stage as a Mobile-First Legend in Apex Legends Mobile
Apex Legends Mobile finally has its very first mobile-first legend in ‘Rhapsody,’ the Rhythm Singer.
Apex Legends Mobile finally has its very first mobile-first legend in ‘Rhapsody,’ the Rhythm Singer. Here’s her short description from the Apex Legends Mobile website:
- The best way to understand Rhapsody is through her music. The droning pulse speaks of her childhood in Kómma where the tech giant Pythas Inc. controls all. The steady rhythm reflects her supportive mother, a brilliant AI engineer. And the booming bass resembles Rowdy, the robot companion her mother created to amplify her daughter’s voice. Once invited to perform on the wealthy side of town, she attempted to wipe out her family’s debt with a virus. However, the virus proved too powerful, and corrupted the entire district’s finances. To avoid Pythas’ wrath, Rhapsody agreed to join the Games under their banner. But that’s just her cover: Rhapsody is determined to top the Apex charts until she’s earned enough to buy not only her freedom, but her family’s as well.
Rhapsody’s Abilities
Rhapsody’s tactical ability is the ‘Hype Anthem.’ She plays a powerful track that speeds up nearby squadmates and restores shields. The ability gets halted when she takes damage. Her passive ability is the ‘Gifted Ear.’ She is able to pick up sound visualizations from an extended range. Finally, Rhapsody’s ultimate ability is ‘Rowdy’s Rave.’ Rhapsody’s cute robot sidekick, Rowdy, projects a wall of flashing lights that blocks incoming sight and scans.

On its 10th season milestone, MPL-PH unveiled its plans to launch a Hall of Legends for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional Players. Ten athletes will be chosen by a meticulous panel composed of players, coaches, media, and select members of Moonton.
MPL-PH Season 10 kicks off on 12 August 2022, with eight teams competing for a combined prize pool of USD 150,000. It is currently one of the biggest and longest-running esports leagues in the Philippines. Eight teams will compete for the chance to represent the Philippines in the upcoming M4 World Championship. They are Blacklist International, Bren Esports, ECHO, Nexplay EVOS, ONIC PH, RSG Philippines, Smart Omega, and TNC Pro Team. With the theme “LAKAS NA10 TO,” MPL-PH Season 10 aims to celebrate ten seasons of esports excellence and dominating Filipino strength.
Many Filipino players have made the country proud by earning international accolades for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. The Philippines currently holds the most number of titles for both Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) and M World Championship Series (M2, M3). The Philippines also took the gold medals in both the 2019 Southeast Asian Games and 2021 Southeast Asian Games for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event.
Recently, Filipino players and coaches have been imported to different ML:BB professional leagues around Southeast Asia which signifies the strength of the Fillipinos in the esports scene. With the developments in the ML:BB esports both locally and internationally, it only seems fit that MPL-PH begins its own version of a hall of game, the Hall of Legends.
Additional details regarding the process of nomination and voting for the first ten (10) inductees into the Hall of Legends will follow in the next few weeks.
5 Pokémon Champions to Expect in the Pokémon Unite Philippine Open
The Pokémon Unite Philippine Open extended its registration until August 4, 2022. Qualifiers will happen on August 6-7, 2022 while the playoffs and finals will be on August 12-13, 2022. The tournament has a 1,000,000 PHP prize pool.
The qualifier rounds on August 6-7 will consist of two 32-team brackets per day. The top two (2) teams per pool will proceed to the Playoffs on August 12.
Pokémon Unite is a 5v5 game where two teams battle it out to see who can score the most points within the 10 minutes time period. It takes teamwork and strategy to score more points and prevent opponents from scoring points. It is a different type of 5v5 game that got a lot of players curious to try it out.
For the upcoming qualifiers, teams are expected to field their very best Pokémon starters. What Pokémons can we expect to see in the Pokémon Unite Philippine Open? Here are five Pokémons that would probably make the drafts:
1. ABSOL
Absol is a jungle speedster that can deal big physical damage to the opponent in close proximity. Absol has high burst damage and mobility. However, this Pokémon requires expert ability to be played correctly and it relies on its critical damage and its unite move to be untargetable. This means that the player has to carefully watch his positioning during the game to maximize Absol’s abilities.
2. BLISSEY
Blissey is a support melee with a special damage type. It is a Pokémon that heals its allies, empowers them, and cures them of different conditions depending on the player’s moveset build on Blissey. Blissey’s Unite Move “Bliss Assistance” grants an ally Pokémon a shield and increases its attack speed and special attack for a short time. Its passive ability is Natural Cure removes all status conditions from the Pokémon. Naturally, teams would want to have Blissey on their composition to ensure sustainability of all the other Pokémons.
3. GRENINJA
Greninja is a ranged attacker that uses smokescreens to strategically hide itself and then deal great attack damage to the opponents. Its mobility and stealth is perfect for jungling. Greninja’s skills rely heavily on the accuracy and precision of its skillshots. Also, Greninja users need to be careful until they reach their power spike at level 7. Before this, Greninja is very vulnerable.
4. HOOPA
Hoopa is a ranged supporter with a special damage type. It is a complex Pokémon to play but if played strategically can help the team be healed in the battlefield and at the same time, deal damage to the opponents. Hoopa is very versatile with a strong laning potential. Its United Move is Rings Unbound. It increases the user’s max HP and creates a ring at a designated location. Each ally Pokémon can warp to the ring’s location.
5. PIKACHU
Last week, we mentioned that Pikachu is the very best starter Pokémon for anybody who is trying Pokémon Unite for the first time. Pikachu is also a very good Pokémon to play in the competitive scene because of his crowd control and huge damage. Pikachu is a ranged attacker that stuns and damages the opponent with electricity. This Pokémon has a wide attack range but tends to be very squishy.
So what are you waiting for? Register now for the Pokémon Unite Philippine Open!

The ESL Snapdragon Pro Series 2022: Wild Rift Mobile Open for multiple regions kicked off last Saturday, July 9, 2022, with four participating regions: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, & MSPB (Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, & Brunei) for a chance to get the lion’s share of the $75,000 USD prize pool. The ESL Snapdragon Pro Series 2022 has four stages: (1) mobile open, (2) mobile open finals, (3) mobile challenge, & (4) mobile challenge finals.
The mobile open serves as the open qualifier across different regions and the top 4 from each single-elimination qualifier will head to the closed qualifier. The closed qualifier is a double-elimination with eight teams from both open qualifiers battling it out to enter the mobile open finals. The mobile open finals pit the top 4 teams from the mobile open and 4 invited professional teams from each region. The top 2 teams of the mobile open finals will move on to the mobile challenge where the top 2 teams of each of the 4 regions will play in a single round-robin format. From 8 teams, the top 5 teams of the mobile challenge group stage will finally enter the mobile challenge finals into a double elimination playoff to determine the champions of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series 2022.
Mobile Open League of Legends: Wild Rift Open Cup 1
Over 100 teams signed up from the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. Philippine teams led the qualifiers with over 85 teams in the mix. A lot of old rosters and new teams participated in the first open qualifiers with familiar teams like Team Secret leading the pack. At the end of the first qualifiers, the first four teams that emerged to enter the closed qualifier were Team Underground, Grindsky Esports, Nigma Galaxy, and Team Unknown.
Familiar Faces & Comebacks
Team Unknown is not really unknown but rather they are led by one of League of Legends PC and Wild Rift veteran players, Rebengga. It’s not a surprise that they cruised past the other teams including Bren Esports to enter the next phase of the tournament. On the other hand, one of the strongest teams to ever enter the rift since season 0, Team Underground and its players: Karlll, Don, Sayonara, Xyliath, Lara1, & Orthros are amongst the most feared players in the game. Their bracket was perhaps one of the hardest paths as they had to face Malaysia’s Todak and the Philippines’ OneSnap Genesis, a newly formed powerhouse team.
GrindSky Esports, together with the same roster, Tontey, Chianese, Bambi, Tactical, & Beau faced a massive opponent in their round of 8 matches against Team Secret’s WCS roster, Azar, Trebor, Tatsurii, Chewy, and Raux but GrindSky proved to be Team Secret’s kryptonite when they swept them with a 3-0 victory. Meanwhile, after a year of hiatus, renowned jungler, Juschie is back with a vengeance together with his new team, Nigma Galaxy. His comeback awaited, Juschie now plays together with Chammy, Aaron, Demonkite, and Dr4w.
These four teams will be waiting for the top 4 teams of the second open qualifier to determine who will head to the mobile open finals.
Young Blood & New Teams
A lot of people were anticipating certain matches during the qualifiers because there were a lot of newly formed teams that fans were excited to see play. One of these teams is OneSnap Genesis (1SE Genesis). OneSnap Genesis is part of the four teams under Kaisaya’s OneSnap Esports. 1SE Genesis is composed of veteran professional players such as Speltz (formerly from Liyab Esports), Taymlaps, Dizaster (formerly Nexplay Esports), Pego (formerly Cerebrum Esports), & Renzy (formerly Oasis Gaming & Sibol). They proved themselves to be a strong force on the field but dropped from the first qualifier when they lost a tight match against Team Underground with a 1-2 score. They will be back together with their sister teams, OneSnap Alliance, OneSnap Luna, and OneSnap Amazons in the second qualifier.
Another team on the radar is Bren Esports. Some of their players were from Sunsparks such as Nasjo, Haze, and Konsi. However, their new recruits are the ones currently under the spotlight as Miggie and DoeDoii from Liyab Esports came in to complete their roster. They were also very close to securing the Top 4 in the first qualifier but lost to Rebengga’s Team Unknown. GH Kabod, formerly Raekken Esports, a team that dominated the amateur scene not too long ago is also back in the scene but bowed out early in the first qualifiers when they faced Team Secret in the round of 16 matches.
All of these teams will be given a second chance in the last open qualifier for the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series 2022: Wild Rift. Teams can still register for the tournament until the morning of Saturday, July 16, 2022.
RRQ PH Gets a Top 8 Finish at Icons Global Championship 2022
RRQ PH made the Philippines proud after finishing at Top 8 at the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. The lone Philippine representative in the global tournament bowed out of the competition after their loss against FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) in the knockout stage.
REX REGUM Qeon Philippines (RRQ PH) made the Philippines proud after they finished at the 5th-8th place in the inaugural Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022. The lone Philippine representative in the global tournament bowed out of the competition after their loss against China’s top 1 team, FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) during the knockout stage last July 1, 2022.
The tournament included 24 teams from 8 different regions and boasted a huge prizepool of $2,000,000 USD. The eight participating regions in the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship include: (1) Wild Rift League (WRL), (2) Wild Rift Champions SEA (WCS), (3) Wild Rift Champions Korea (WCK), (4) Wild Rift North America Series (WNS), (5) Wild Rift Open Latinoamerica (WOL), (6) Wild Tour Brasil (WBR), (7) Wild Rift Japan Cup (WJC), and (8) Wild Rift EMEA Championship (WEC).
RRQ PH Defies the Odds
As the third seed from Wild Rift Champions Southeast Asia (WCS), RRQ PH started their journey in the Play-ins stage in group B together with JD Gaming, Unsold Stuff Gaming, and STMN Esports. The play-in stage was composed of 16 teams divided into four groups of four teams. Each group was played in a double elimination bracket. The top 2 teams from each group advanced to the group stage. RRQ PH was able to enter the group stage after they fought their way against Unsold Stuff Gaming in the decider match to secure the second seed in their respective group.
The champions from each of the 8 participating regions were placed directly in the group stage. Together with the 8 teams from the play-in stage, the 16 teams were divided into four groups of four teams. RRQ PH was placed in Group B along with J Team, Sengoku Gaming, and Team Queso. The group stage was also played in a double-elimination bracket where the top two teams advanced to the playoffs. In the decider match, RRQ PH battled WJC’s champion, Sengoku Gaming and entered the knockout stage after a 2-0 victory.
The knockout stage saw RRQ PH pitted against China’s number one team and the WRL champions, FunPlus Phoenix. It was an uphill fight but RRQ PH showed that they can go toe-to-toe against the tournament favourites. In the end, FPX was too much for the Philippine squad and sent them home after a 0-3 loss against the Chinese team. They ended their Wild Rift Icons Global Championship stint in the 5th-8th place. It was a good run for RRQ PH squad who proudly raised the Philippine flag on the international stage of Wild Rift.
RRQ PH team is composed of Janold “Devil J” Gonzales, Charles “Chazz” Esguerra, Sean “Helios” Palisoc, Marc “Marky” Ilagan, Eric “Exosen” Gubatan”, and Mark “Maze” Galang with their head coach, Jon Lance “Kaigu” Hernandez, and assistant coach, John Mark “3finger” Dualan. They will bring home no less than $80,000 USD.

Who Would Play These Apex Legends in a Live Action Movie?
From Seer, Valkyrie, Wraith and on – it’s fun to dream about an all-star live action cast of who would play the best Apex Legends in a movie.
In a world… (movie announcer voice) where literally every video game is being made into a movie – do you often think about who would play your favourite characters in said movie? They aren’t always box office hits, but as I was grinding my season 12 rank yesterday, I found myself mentally casting Hollywood A-listers in Apex Legends – from Seer to Valkyrie, Wraith (my main) to Gibby and the whole gang.
Apex Legends Support Characters:
LIFELINE – Letitia Wright – Black Panther
Letitia Wright is better known as Shuri from Black Panther and I think that she would be perfect as Lifeline. She’s got badass moves and she can lock down a battle. I think her work on the Marvel series of Black Panther and Avengers Movies positions her against no rival to play Che/Lifeline – the quirky, confident battle medic Legend!
LOBA – Florence Pugh – Black Widow, Little Women
Yeah, I’m going back to Marvel for this one too but I DARE you to look at Florence Pugh and tell me she’s not 100% Loba! You probably know her as Natasha Romanoff’s (Black Widow) “sister,” Yelena or from Little Women but SHE IS LOBA! Bonus points for the fact that we know she would handle the acrobatics and staff-slinging that matches Loba’s character with ease. Che/Lifeline – the quirky, confident battle medic Legend!
Apex Legends Defenders
GIBRALTAR – Dwayne Johnson – Jungle Cruise, Jumanji, wrestling stuff
The towering fortress with a giant heart would have to be played by someone who has the sheer physical presence of Gibraltar but also the kind nature and team-spirited-ness of the character. To me, that pumped out Dwayne Johnson’s name and visual perfectly. Hope he can nail the accent. As an aside – if it where my choice, Dwayne Johnson would be in every movie. against no rival to play Che/Lifeline – the quirky, confident battle medic Legend!
CAUSTIC – Mickey Rourke – Iron Man 2, The Wrestler
Apparently, I want to re-skin the MCU films as one big Apex Legends live action tribute but to be fair; they have basically collected all the best action talent in cinema for over 10 years now. Mickey Rourke has the vocals, the stature, the sheer intimidation that Apex’s toxic trapper needs to soak the field with fear and fumes. “The Wrestler” gets my nod for Caustic. Che/Lifeline – the quirky, confident battle medic Legend!
WATTSON – Esme Creed-Miles – Hannah
NOT because I’m worried about Marvel superfans, but it is nice to pull talent from elsewhere. Esme Creed-Miles played Hannah on the Amazon Prime series born from the film about ‘born-to-kill’ youth assassin originated by Saoirse Ronan in 2011. I think she’d be perfect to play the timid but deadly youth prodigy Wattson. No doubt her performance would be………… electrifying. I’LL SEE MYSELF OUT OKAY!
RAMPART – Freida Pinto – Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Slumdog Millionaire
Freida Pinto is a bit under-rated in my opinion and she does have the action chops to play Apex’s back-talkin heavy-hitter Rampart. Do we have to cast her trusty ‘Shiela’ separately? I find her to be the perfect portrayal of Rampart in all her heavily armed goodness.
Apex Legends Strikers
WRAITH – Jennifer Connelly – Top Gun: Maverick. Snowpiercer
As a dedicated Wraith main and fanboy, this was tricky for me – I had too many options but I ultimately pegged Jennifer Connelly. She kept popping in my mind because she has the grit, the voice and the action portfolio as well as the ability to play the brooding underlying torment of Wraith’s character.
BANGALORE – Jada Pinkett Smith – Gotham, The Matrix: Reloaded
Jada Pinkett Smith popped into my mind immediately for Banga. At first blush she might not appear to have the edge that Bangalor carries but I’ve seen her do it. She can throw down, is no stranger to action film and she is an absolute boss! I’d love to see her poppin’ smoke and droppin’ hot lead in an Apex live action movie.
MIRAGE – Ryan Reynolds – Deadpool, Free Guy
C’mon, WHO ELSE! Ryan Reynolds would be an absolutely perfect addition to this lineup and a killer fit for the comedic, wise-crackin Mirage. His humor, proven ability in action film… I couldn’t think of anyone better at all. And that’s before my Canadian bias kicks in!
OCTANE – Michael Peña – Ant Man
How much heat will I get for poaching Marvel movies? Michael Peña has had his share of roles in action flicks and definitely has a flare for comedic timing! To be fair, a lot of Octane would presumably be costume but I think Peña has the goods to bring Octane to live behind the mask too!
REVENANT – Andy Sirkis – Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes – every godly CGI character
Andy Serkis is legendary for bringing brilliant acting together with cutting edge CGI tech – from Gollum to Caesar and in a host of Marvel films and series breakouts. When I thought that I’d see Revenant as a mainly CG character the only name that I heard in my head was Andy f’in Serkis. Hands (or claws) down.
HORIZON – Rose Leslie – Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey
You may know her as Jon Snow’s better half on and off-screen in the character Ygritte, but Rose Leslie is at home in the fantasy genre and she’s actually Scottish to boot! Not only would I love to see her in this role, but I’d love to see her return to a hard-hitting action show again. Loved her in GoT!
FUZE – Colin Farrell – The Batman, Phone Booth
Though he is Irish, Colin Farrell has the acting chops to pull anything off. See his performance as Oswald ‘The Penguin’ Cobblepot in Matt Reeves’ The Batman for more than enough proof. The guy looks like yer ol’ pal Fuzey too. Picture him with a giant cannon over-shoulder, raging mustache and a cold one in-hand.
ASH – Anna Campbell (voice) – Apex Legends, God of War
That’s right! I’m putting the original voice of Ash as… the voice of Ash. That’s because I see Ash as an entirely CGI role which means, in a twist, we get to consider the original voice actor, Anna Campbell, do the work. She’s no stranger to the VO game and I thought this was a nice nod to the original voice talent.
MAD MAGGIE – Rachel House – Thor: Ragnarok
While we know Apex doesn’t draw from real Earth geography or peoples, the ties are pretty evident and Mad Maggie actually has distinct Māori ties, it is reasonable to consider a Māori actress to play Mad Maggie – it has to be someone who can also harness Maggie’s no-nonsense edgy approach to kicking ass and taking names. That person is Rachel House – You might remember her as Topaz. The Grandmaster’s chief bodyguard in Thor: Ragnarok. Yeah, she’s got Maggie locked!
Apex Legends Scouts
BLOODHOUND – Katee Sackhoff – The Mandalorian
Part of Bloodhound’s legacy is that we’ve never seen their face and the voicing is heavily modulated. While that might open up casting options, the performer behind a live-action Bloodhound needs to be able to run the quiet deadliness and physicality of the tech hunter. When I ran that down, I felt Katee Sackhoff aka Bo-Katan would be perfect and, well, she’s got the tech hunter part down pat right? Did you know that she not only played Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian, but also voiced the same character in the Clone Wars tv series?
PATHFINDER – Chris Edgerly (voice) – Apex Legends, The Simpsons
The second of only two characters I would see being entirely CGI – and only because I feel we now have the tech to do it well – goes to Pathy’s original voice actor, Chris Edgerly. Beyond that, it would be pretty cool to see a few of the original Apex Legends voice actors in the mix here.
CRYPTO – Simu Liu – Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
At this point, I just concede to the fact that Disney basically owns everyone. Yes, another MCU pull but while you’ve SEEN these folks in Marvel movies it doesn’t mean they started there. In fact, Simu Liu is another Canadian bud who got a leg up in a Canadian tv series called Kim’s Convenience.
VALKYRIE – Ming-Na Wen – The Mandalorian/Book of Boba Fett
Again from the Disney roster, Ming-Na has shown that she can not only hold her own in a combat-centric, aggressive lead but that she can easily gel into about any role from an ER doctor to an intergalactic assassin and more. I’m sure she can take to the skies as Valkyrie, just as easily.
SEER – Donald Glover – Solo: A Star Wars Story, Community
The sagely, other-worldly, low-key King of Pop vibes needed for the omniscient Seer was a tough one for me. Lots of great actors could bring this one home but I though a great fit would be someone with an almost dancer-like grace. When I put all that together it hit me that this person… is Donald Glover.
Now of course I know that I’m ignoring a LOT of Hollywood casting convention with a list like this and I’m sure everyone has their own picks of who would be perfect for each of these roles. These are simply my top-of-mind, fun picks based on a genuine love for each one of them and the lore that they hail from.
If you disagree that’s fine! Get at us on socials and tell us what you think and if you can cast it better, shoot your shot!
