MPL-PH Week 5 Recap: Race to Playoffs
Some teams shined while some teams struggled. It’s a race to the playoffs as MPL-PH S10 entered its second round of the regular season.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League – Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 10 entered its second half of the regular season. All eight teams are fighting to enter the playoffs to get a chance to take home the MPL-PH championship and represent the Philippines in the upcoming M4 World Championship. After week 5, Blacklist International stands strong in first rank while not too far behind are ONIC Philippines, RSG Philippines, and Omega Esports who are all tied for second rank.
Week 5 Day 1
- Match 1: RSG vs OMG (2-0)
- The rematch between the kings of the SEA saw the MSC 2022 champions complete their revenge against the MSC 2021 champion squad from their initial bout in the first round. RSG Philippines opened round 2 with a clean 2-0 versus Omega Esports. Light and Aqua showed their prowess in their respective roles and created the plays that placed them on top of “Barangay Omega.”
- Match 2: NXPE vs BLCK (0-2)
- Nexplay EVOS’ surprise of fielding Batute or more commonly known as “AkoSiDogie” for the first time in season 10 could not stop the royal team from bulldozing their way into this series. Ohmyv33nus’ Faramis proved very lethal and critical against NXPE because he managed to save his team from NXPE’s aggression multiple times. In Game 2 alone, Ohmyv33nus garnered 18 assists to complete the sweep against the neon tigers.
Week 5 Day 2
- Match 1: BREN vs ONIC (2-1)
- Now on a reverse trajectory, ONIC Philippines suffered its second straight loss against a rising Bren Esports. The former boys of Monster Anarchy (now ONIC) shattered Bren in game 1. While it was a tight battle between the two teams with star rookies, ultimately it was Kyletzy’s crucial plays that forced a game 3 and ultimately won the series for Bren Esports with a nostalgic Lancelot play from the jungler of Bren.
- Match 2: TNC vs NXPE (1-2)
- Nexplay EVOS finally broke their losing streak with a convincing win against TNC Pro Team. The Phoenix Army showed grit during game 1 and dominated against their opponent but NXPE managed to bounce back in game 2. In the end of the series, MPL legend YellyHaze took the helm and led his team to victory and managed to increase their points to 8.
- Match 3: BLCK vs OMG (1-2)
- It was feared that OMG would mirror what happened during their first meet with BLCK in round 1 where BLCK made two consecutive comebacks to sweep Omega Esports. After game 1 where BLCK did make a comeback, it started to look like this. However, Omega Esports refocused themselves to where they are strong – the late game. Thanks to Raizen and Kelra’s power plays, Omega Esports was able to execute polished late game engages against Blacklist International to reverse the outcome of the series.
Week 5 Day 3
- Match 1: TNC vs BREN (1-2)
- Bren Esports continued its winstreak with a reverse sweep against TNC Pro Team. TNC managed to challenge Bren Esports in game 1 but came short come game 2 and 3 as Bren Esports captain and MPL veteran, Pheww, led his team to victory through his familiar plays and winning ways.
- Match 2: ONIC vs ECHO (1-2)
- ECHO extended the lose streak of ONIC Philippines after they secured a crucial series against them. It was another reverse sweep as legendary jungler, Karltzy, whipped out his signature Lancelot in game 3 to wreak havoc against ONIC Philippines. However, ECHO are still behind ONIC in the rankings as ECHO ended week 5 with 14 points and ONIC at 15 points.
Unfortunately for TNC and NXPE, they have not moved up a rank since last week. Both teams remain in 8th and 7th place respectively and are in danger of not entering the playoffs. On the other end, it’s a tight race between the top 6 of the league. One match could alter the entire top 6 ranking completely and each match is getting more competitive than ever. The league highlighted Omega Esports’ Kelra as the MVP of the week after two matches where he showed he was perfectly capable of carrying his team to victory during crucial teamfights and sieges.
Fans can continue watching MPL Philippines Season 10 in their Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok Channels.

Game Titles Announced for the 2023 SEA Games Esports Event in Cambodia
Esports is once again included in the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Cambodia next year. The list of the official game titles were posted last September 7 in the Facebook page of E-Sports Federation Cambodia.
The game titles for the esports events are as follows:
- AK2
- PUBG Mobile
- League of Legends: Wild Rift
- Mobile Legends: Bang Bang
- Cross Fire
There will be a men & women’s division for League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. In the last 31st SEA Games in Hanoi, it was only League of Legends: Wild Rift that had a women’s division. AK2 and PUBG Mobile will have individual and team events.
The previous SEA Games already saw the likes of PUBG Mobile, Wild Rift, MLBB, and Cross Fire while AK2 will be making its debut in the 32nd SEA Games. Only MLBB has been in all SEA Games which hosted esports events.
Esports was first introduced in the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines where the featured game titles were Dota 2 (PC), Starcraft II (PC), Hearthstone (PC), Tekken 7 (Console), Arena of Valor (Mobile), and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Mobile). The Philippines bagged the gold medals for Dota 2, MLBB, and Starcraft II and bagged silver and bronze medals in Tekken 7. In the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam, the Philippines bagged the gold medals for MLBB with Blacklist International and League of Legends: Wild Rift (Women’s division) with Grindsky Eris.
The 2023 SEA Games will be on May 5 to 16 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
MPL-PH Week 4 Recap: Blacklist is Back
At the end of MPL-PH Week 4, M3 world champions and back-to-back season 7 and 8 champions Blacklist International catapulted themselves to the top of the pack after they suffered a two game loss back in week 3.
It was a weekend filled with surprises and upsets as the eight teams of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines (MPL-PH) Season 10 showed up to the last weekend of the first round robin. At the end of MPL-PH Week 4, M3 world champions and back-to-back season 7 and 8 champions Blacklist International catapulted themselves to the top of the pack after they suffered a two game loss back in week 3.
Week 4 Day 1
- Match 1: BREN vs OMG (2-1)
- The current Bren Esports roster is far from the veteran roster that the fans knew them to be but the team’s determination remained the same. From one strong jungler to the next, Bren’s jungler Kyletzy helped the team extend the series into a third game with the help of his Lancelot.
- Match 2: TNC vs ONIC (2-0)
- TNC Pro Team was sitting at the bottom of the rankings when they faced week 3’s top team, ONIC Philippines. Most people thought that it would be an easy win for the rookie team but TNC came in prepared and determined to bounce back from their round 1 losses. With the season 10 debut of King Salman and strength of SDzyz’s Balmond, the team in orange swept ONIC Philippines.
Week 4 Day 2
- Match 1: RSG vs ECHO (2-0)
- The season 9 champions proved that they are back in championship form when they swept the orcas of ECHO through clean team fights and flawlessly executed plays. Their captain, Light, used Atlas’ skills with so much precision and was able to create space for the rest of the team to knock down the towers of ECHO and destroy their base.
- Match 2: NXPE vs BREN (0-2)
- The anticipated season 10 debut of Renejay was thwarted by the unstoppable forces of Kyletzy and Bren Esports captain, Pheww. Although Nexplay EVOS showed a strong front in their match, the Rene-2 duo was unable to penetrate through Bren Esports’ composition championed by the current meta jungler, Julian which Kyletzy utilized against the neon tigers.
- Match 3: BLCK vs TNC (2-0)
- The Phoenix army was not able to replicate their day 1 victory against the royalty team of Blacklist International. Ohmyv33nus led the team with 12 assists in Diggie in game 1 while the second game was close until it wasn’t. Oheb’s Wanwan came out scratch-free with a strong 4/0/5 finish to close out the series against TNC to mount their comeback from their week 3 performance.
Week 4 Day 3
- Match 1: ECHO vs NXPE (2-1)
- Coach Tictac fielded the ECHO proud team or ECHO’s team 2 against the comments of the doubters. While NXPE won game 1 after 29 long minutes, ECHO proudly reversed swept Nexplay EVOS and claimed the crucial series decider through the help of Zaida’s Akai and OUTPLAYED’s Irithel. This placed NXPE in a crucial spot as they landed in 7th place after week 4.
- Match 2: RSG vs BLCK (1-2)
- Round 1 of the MPL-PH Season 10 regular season ended with a bang with a world-class series between the MSC Champions and the M3 World Champions. RSG Philippines started strong together with Demonkite’s Balmond and Aqua’s Lylia to capture game 1 of the series. Blacklist International fired back with an 11 minute game to tie the series and bring the raiders to a game 3. The two teams brought the end of the series to a 32 minute thriller. However, Edward made a crucial flank against the opponent’s gold laner and led Blacklist’s final clash against RSG PH to a victory.
The back-to-back victories of Bren Esports earned Kyletzy as the MVP of the week. He displayed mastery of multiple assassin heroes such as Fanny, Lancelot, Benedetta, and Julian. He also helped place Bren Esports in the top 6 of the rankings passing Nexplay EVOS. Blacklist’s crucial wins placed them in the top spot with 14 points followed by ONIC and Omega Esports in the second spot with 13 points. RSG PH and ECHO are also tied in third place with 12 points.
It’s still a race to the top and to the playoffs as the eight teams enter round two of MPL-PH Season 10. MPL Philippines is live every Friday-Sunday in their official Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube channels.
